Wildland Trekking’s Olympia, WA branch offers multi-day backpacking trips, car camping style base camp trips, inn based trips and day hikes in the Pacific Northwest. The ideal candidate is experienced in leading trips in the wilderness with varied populations. Multi-day trips range from 3-6 days. Mileage ranges from 5-12 per day. Guides prepare 3 meals a day for guests in the field, teaching outdoor living skills, manage the all aspects of the trip, and are responsible for interpretive information, risk management, and guest satisfaction.
Must be able to begin work June 21st 2020.
Must have previous guiding experience. Competence in back country travel, strong leadership, teaching/interpretation, communication and customer service. Ability to find common ground and connect with novice guests of different ages, backgrounds and nationalities. A reliable vehicle. Ability to pick up and carry a backpack (35+ lbs) for multiple hours/days . A passion to share with others this country’s inspiring natural wonders.
- At least 23 years old to guide/drive
- Previous guiding or outdoor leadership experience
- WFR/CPR certified
-Backcountry Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Outdoor cooking skills
- Interpretation skills
- Service-oriented work ethic
-Full time availability June - September
- 8-15 pass van/trailer driving
-Strong local knowledge, experience hiking in the Olympics, Cascades and/or Rainier area
