Overview

I’m looking for one person to join my all-women crew for the summer salmon season on the remote and beautiful west side of Kodiak Island, Alaska. No experience necessary – I invite athletic, open-minded people who enjoy working hard in an amazing setting as part of a tight-knit team of 3 to apply. We fish out of open skiffs to harvest all 5 species of Pacific salmon while living in little rustic cabins on the beach. We do this for the lifestyle and because we value immensely the opportunity to sustainably harvest salmon on a small-scale – we love what we do! Dates are early July through early-mid September but I can be slightly flexible if the right person is interested. Compensation is 9% of gross plus free room and board (including delicious garden greens we grow and as much salmon as you can eat!), and a bonus for completing the close-up at end of season which includes an additional 1%, return airfare, and raingear/boots paid for. Please email me for more information and/or to apply: [email protected]

About Trap Six Setnet Site

Trap Six is a commercial fishing site for wild and sustainable Alaska salmon, owned and operated by lifelong fisherman Adelia Myrick, located in remote and pristine Uganik Bay, on the Kodiak Island National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska. Working out of small, open skiffs with 3 person crews, we harvest wild ocean-going salmon that swim into our set-nets. This is a lifestyle, not just a job- a way to meld physical work with everyday life in a beautiful setting. This is not a “get-rich-quick” big boat style of fishing, but it is a wonderful way to be a part of the wild world we harvest from.
