Overview
We are seeking Program Directors who can work full-time for three or more of our week-long 100% outdoors summer camps from June 8 – August 16, 2025. Our camps take place in Sandpoint, ID, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Spokane, WA and Bozeman, MT. If you’re not available for at least three weeks, let us know as we may still be able to fit you in.
Program Directors are responsible for the overall vision, mentoring, leadership, implementation, support, and safety of each camp of up to 35 youth and up to 10 staff. Program Directors take direction from TEWS co-Directors to ensure that each camp has everything it needs to function well. They supervise and guide the staff’s growth with clear communication and regular feedback and communicate with parents with grace and ease. Program Directors’ awareness and embodied knowledge of TEWS mentoring approach, curriculum, culture, policies, and values empower the whole camp to prosper and thrive.
Qualifications:
21 years or older, a valid driver’s license, and a clean background check.
4+ years of professional experience mentoring youth ages 6-13 in outdoor education.
Certification in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, or acquiring certification before the first day of camp. WFR preferred.
Physically fit and in shape.
Responsible for your own transportation and meals before, during, and after program days.
Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
Required Skills:
Oversee a summer camp of up to 35 youth and up to 10 staff.
Ensure the physical safety and emotional well-being of all participants and staff.
Ensure a high-quality culture of inspired deep nature connection mentoring for all.
Be the main communication person for staff, parents, landowners, and guests.
Responsible for camp design/planning, staff prep/training, camp implementation, debriefing, and set up/clean up of gear.
Make sure all supplies are organized and ready for each camp week.
Preferred Skills:
Skilled proficiency as a storyteller, song leader, and the arts.
Strong experience with and knowledge of Inland Northwest hazards, mammals, tracking, edible/medicinal plants, aidless navigation, ecology, trees, survival skills, birds/bird language, scout skills, and history of local Indigenous Tribes.
Wilderness First Responder certification.
