Overview
The Outdoor Adventures Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in creating a diverse and inclusive recreational environment that serves the University of San Diego community. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the departments of Residential Life, Out of State Student Network, Student Orientation, Parent Relations and the Commons. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Director of Outdoor Adventures to plan, implement and lead the Pre-Orientation Adventure program, outdoor recreation classes, as well as custom programs and teambuilding for campus partners. Logistical management, planning and execution of trips ranging from 1 to 10 days, leadership training and development for student trip leaders, developing and supervising trip programs during the academic year, developing curriculum and learning outcomes, supervising trip leaders, managing program equipment and student office staff. Assist in creating dashboard statistics and program reports. Periodically, this position may be asked to lead or contribute to either ad hoc or ongoing division/campus projects outside the scope of their day-to-day activities. Additional assignments may be seasonal, ad hoc or ongoing, depending on the project.

Special Conditions of Employment:
This is a full-time position including evenings and weekends and multi-day overnight trips as needed.
Must be able to travel on extended out-of-town trips and conferences. Trips will take place in the evenings, weekends and/or holidays and include irregular hours.
Willing to work flexible hours as activities and events dictate.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Advanced First Aid Certificate
Valid US drivers license
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in recreation administration, outdoor management/recreation or other wellness related field.
Two years of experience required in outdoor education and/or leading/guiding outdoor trips.
Current Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Advanced First Aid Certificate
Must possess a valid US driver’s license and be approved to drive USD vehicles.
Required Skills:
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in recreation administration, public health or equivalent work experience.
Previous experience with a college/university outdoor program, commercial guide or outfitter, and/or instructional experience with NOLS, Outward Bound, SCA, WEA, or comparable organization is highly desirable.
Outdoor Leadership certifications in single pitch climbing, cycling, paddling, Leave No Trace or applicable competencies is desirable.
