Overview

The UCC Field Logistics Technician (FLT) provides leadership, support to multiple field crews, and assistance to field staff in seasonal trainings and logistical coordination. The FLT ensures that field crews are prepared to perform high-quality conservation service in a positive, safe, and productive
environment.

UCC operates three 12-week field seasons throughout the year. The FLT begins their term of service in the early spring. The spring season is dedicated to the development of Crew Leaders through formal training and peer-led project work. During this time, FLTs become familiar with their responsibilities and
assist regional staff with preparation for spring training. FLTs will participate in the Crew Leaders’ training period, including supervising field crews for the remainder of the spring season (March – May). During our summer and fall field seasons, FLTs assist field staff with logistical coordination and support
field crews.

Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Eligible to enroll in an AmeriCorps term of service
• Agree to undergo a National Criminal History Check

Required Skills:

• Trail maintenance and construction experience
• Chainsaw training and experience
• Experience with group communication, conflict management & resolution skills
• Maturity & professionalism in an environment with irregular and changing schedules
• Self-motivated with a commitment to personal and professional growth
• Alignment to UCC’s mission and values of safety, service, community, inclusivity, positivity, and
commitment
• 6 months minimum leadership or supervisory experience in a team setting

Preferred Skills:

• 6 months experience in conservation corps, public lands management, or work in similar fields
• Employ effective communication with all levels of UCC members, staff, and administration

Utah Conservation Corps is an AmeriCorps program made up of members, staff, and partners dedicated to service to our community and environment. We engage in projects throughout the state of Utah that address goals relating to environmental conservation, leadership, education, and sustainability.

UCC AmeriCorps members have committed to a term of service for their country that may range from 3 months to a year. Our members are individuals seeking opportunities to give back, to improve the environment and explore the beauty of Utah's public lands. Many of our members are current students or recent graduates looking to gain experience in the fields of natural resource conservation, education, or social services.
