Overview

The Adventure Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in planning, promoting, and executing WHI adventures to fulfill the organization’s mission. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Coordinator ensures participants have impactful experiences while fostering community engagement and supporting the growth of WHI programs. This position requires a hybrid work environment, combining remote tasks with in-person attendance at meetings, events, and adventure programs held primarily in Boise, Idaho.

Essential Functions
Adventure Program Management (50%)
Plan and implement WHI Adventure Season activities with oversight from the Executive Director.
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, participants, volunteers, and community partners.
Act as on-call safety contact for all adventures not attended in person.
Coordinate adventure logistics, including transportation, gear, food, supplies, adventure send off and returning.
Oversee adventure registration, pre-adventure communication, and post-adventure follow-up.
Implement and maintain safety and risk management protocols.
Foster relationships with local organizations to increase adventure participation.

Youth Leadership Board (YLB) Coordination (20%)
Develop curriculum and facilitate YLB meetings with support from YLB Co-Lead volunteers.
Recruit new YLB members and manage the application process.
Host program kickoff events, retreats, and bimonthly meetings.
Collect and implement feedback from YLB members to enhance future programming.
Manage the YLB program budget in collaboration with the Executive Director and Co-Leads.

Adventure Mentor Team Coordination (10%)
Schedule and coordinate Adventure Mentors for adventures.
Recruit, interview, and onboard Adventure Mentor volunteers to meet program needs.
Plan and deliver Adventure Mentor training on program goals, activities, and safety procedures.
Provide ongoing support for the Adventure Mentor team throughout the season.
Organize an end-of-season appreciation event for Adventure Mentors.

Outreach (10%)
Develop and implement an annual outreach plan to reach diverse community groups.
Maintain relationships with local youth groups, nonprofits, counselors, and educators to encourage referrals.
Attend community outreach events to connect with parents and adventurers.
Represent WHI at fundraising events to promote program impact.
Plan and implement community thank-you events.

Administration (10%)
Manage WHI’s Gear Closet, ensuring inventory is cleaned, stocked, and ready for use.
Collaborate with the Communications Committee to share adventure photos, testimonials, and impact statements.
Work with the Development Committee to provide program metrics and stories of impact.
Input program data into organizational databases, such as Google Sheets.
Act as a community spokesperson for WHI through volunteer recruitment, presentations, and other engagements.

Required Skills:

Ability to create and manage schedules involving multiple variables.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Skills:

2+ years of experience in event planning, youth program management or outdoor education.
Prior experience in nonprofit programming, or leadership curriculum development.
Previous public speaking experience.
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
Knowledge of Idaho’s outdoor recreation opportunities.
Familiarity with nonprofit administration processes.
