Overview

We are looking for a Wilderness First Responder certified individual to be our medic on this multi-day project in the Rawah Wilderness in Colorado, 2 hours West of Fort Collins. This person is responsible for attending to any injuries that may occur on-site and work with the WRV Staff Liaison to deal with emergencies. Barring any medical needs, the WFR volunteer is welcome and encouraged to help out with the trail work for the weekend.

Project Date: Saturday, Aug 24 at 9am – Sunday, August 25 at 4pm.

The Rawah Trail is experiencing increasingly heavy traffic, beyond what a wilderness trail is normally built to withstand. The first few miles have been extensively rerouted and restored, but everything beyond the reach of a day-crew (other than what we built previously) is beginning to unravel.

We’ll camp at Sixmile Meadow… yep, the hike is 6 miles (and about 2000′ vertical), but our tools and group supplies will be staged in advance with llamas. We’ll spend two days reinforcing and rebuilding the trail so that it can continue inviting travelers into the glorious Rawah Wilderness for years to come.

Volunteers can drive up daily or car camp near the project.
