Overview

We are looking for a Wilderness First Responder certified individual to be our medic on this two-day project near Grand Lake in Colorado. This person is responsible for attending to any injuries that may occur on-site and work with the WRV Staff Liaison to deal with emergencies. Barring any medical needs, the WFR volunteer is welcome and encouraged to help out with the trail work for the weekend.

Volunteers will spend the weekend backcountry camping 3 miles up the Bowen Gulch trail and building raised tread (turnpike). This 100′ stretch of trail was describes as “boggy enough to pull off a horseshoe.” It’s creating very difficult access to this beautiful part of the Never Summer Wilderness.

The project is Saturday, July 30 at 8am to Sunday, July 21 at 4pm.

Please plan to arrive Friday with enough time to reach camp before dark.

This designated wilderness area borders the quieter west side of Rocky Mountain National Park north of Grand Lake. If you haven’t explored this area yet, it’s time you did!
