Overview

Wyoming River Trips is looking for responsible team players looking to work for a dynamic company. Must be eager to learn, share existing knowledge, coach and learn from more junior raft guides, and be comfortable making good conservative decisions when given autonomy or out of cell range for many hours at a time. Wilderness Firat Aid + CPR and Swiftwater certification is required. If you do not have this, we can provide it April 24th – 27th, 2021.

The North Fork of the Shoshone River is close to a road but considered remote due to: lack of cell service, challenge of accessing the road by emergency vehicle in the height of Summer, proximity to Yellowstone, the changing riverscape due to early season runoff and the fact that it is on National Forest Land. There are wolves, grizzlies, beavers, elk, deer, moose, bighorns and more.

North Fork Guides will be responsible for outfitting clients at the office with WRT gear, making sure lunch is packed and driving to the put-in. North Fork Trips will be self-supported trips. Guides will drive clients to and from the put-in/ take-out, provide lunch and entertain the for the duration of the trip—on and off the river. Guides will be expected to uphold LNT ethics while on the river and get buy-in from reluctant guests. Guides will be expected to take photos of other North Fork Trips when they are not actually guiding on the river. Either a) there will be a driver who takes photos or b) one guide will be on the river and the other will act as driver, photographer and emergency contact.

Guide will be expected to be available and work 3-4 days a week from May 25th – September. Guide may end up taking trips down in inflatable kayaks when the water is lower if this is appropriate for the guide’s skill level and experience. In the month of July, guide may be asked to work more both on the N. Fork and on the Main Fork stretch of river through town, as this is the the busiest month of our operating season. On occasion guide may be asked to cover a few office hours. Rate of pay will be $15/ hour for office hours.

Compensation
• DOE: Starts at $80/day + tips
• You may be asked to fill in trips on the town stretch of river from time to time. Those trips will be $30 – $40/ trip and range from 1 to 3 hours in duration
