Program Instructors provide facilitation of camp activities to groups of children and/or adults. Activities may include teambuilding/climbing, high ropes challenges, nature-based educational programs, and recreational activities such as hiking, boating, archery, and crafts.
Under the supervision of the Group Coordinator, you will provide quality customer service to all guests, represent the YMCA’s Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, and Respect, and provide high-quality programming to all participants.
Develops lesson plans based on provided curriculum and training to teach and lead outdoor activities.
Uses positive techniques and re-direction to guide participants through all activities while creating a fun and engaging learning environment.
Maintains program areas and communicates supply needs to appropriate supervisors.
Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree, or in-progress education, highly preferred. Experience in the field will be considered in lieu of degree.
Prior work, volunteer, or educational experience in environmental studies, education, camping or recreation a plus.
Must love the outdoors; enjoy working with children and adults; and have a strong appreciation for, and understanding of, our natural environment
Visual and auditory abilities required to observe participants at activities, apply appropriate policies/procedures, enforce safety regulations, and respond quickly to critical incidents and emergencies.
Certification in CPR, First Aid, Archery, and/or Lifeguarding
