YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer is hiring seasonal Outdoor Education staff to lead outdoor, environmental and recreational programming. We’re a 500 acre facility located 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh outside the town of Zelienople. Kon-O-Kwee provides programming for youth and adults through school programs , parent/child weekends and more.

Outdoor education programs include:
Science based nature education
Teambuilding and leadership
Indoor rock climbing and zip lines
Archery and BB guns

Ideal candidates will be outgoing individuals with a desire to work with children and adults. Kon-O-Kwee staff work as a team to support the mission of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh and Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer. Full-time outdoor education staff will work closely together as well as live together in shared housing.

Requirements: Applicants must be comfortable outdoors and familiar with outdoor recreation, natural sciences, and capable of supervising children. All employees must complete Pennsylvania Child Protection clearances prior to starting.

Benefits: $100/day, shared housing, and meals during resident programs

Schedule: Full-time OE staff will get 5 days of work per week (barring cancellations), which may include maintenance and housekeeping work.

No experience is necessary but having some experience working with youth in an outdoor setting is desired.

Required Skills:

Must be able to lead groups outdoors in all weather and over varying terrain

Preferred Skills:

New staff will be taught belaying, canoe instruction, archery instruction, teambuilding and general teaching skills
