As a Tour Guide, you are the heart of the guest experience and the primary ambassador for Zion Guru. Your mission is to create engaging, exciting, and unforgettable adventures by delivering exceptional service, fostering meaningful connections, and showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of Zion National Park and the surrounding public lands.

This dynamic, guest-facing role combines outdoor leadership, interpretation, logistics, and hospitality. You will lead a variety of guided adventures, manage transportation and guest logistics, ensure the highest standards of safety and comfort, and create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive atmosphere. More than a guide, you are a storyteller, educator, entertainer, and problem solver who brings each destination to life while embodying Zion Guru’s commitment to safety, stewardship, and exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Lead safe, engaging, and educational adventures throughout Zion National Park and surrounding public lands.
Conduct a variety of guided activities, including:
Scenic day hiking
Scenic driving tours
Canyoneering
Rock climbing
E-bike tours
Manage guest transportation and transfer logistics, ensuring smooth, timely, and comfortable travel throughout each itinerary.
Build genuine relationships with guests while creating a positive, energetic, and inclusive group atmosphere.
Share engaging interpretation of local history, geology, ecology, wildlife, and cultural resources.
Maintain the highest standards of guest safety by following company policies, risk management protocols, and industry best practices.
Adapt to changing weather, trail conditions, and guest needs while maintaining professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Represent Zion Guru with enthusiasm, professionalism, and integrity in every guest interaction.
Collaborate with fellow guides and operations staff to deliver seamless, high-quality experiences.
Maintain vehicles, technical equipment, and guiding gear to ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness.
Uphold Leave No Trace principles and promote responsible stewardship of public lands.
Prepare and communicate daily itineraries, including activity expectations, schedules, weather conditions, and safety information.
Physical & Work Requirements

This is a physically demanding position with a high level of guest interaction and responsibility. Guides should expect long days, changing weather conditions, and extended periods outdoors.

Candidates must be able to:

Hike on uneven terrain while leading groups for extended periods.
Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Safely operate company vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditions.
Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and occasional multi-day trips.
Maintain a positive, energetic, and professional attitude throughout long and active workdays.

Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of professional guiding experience.
Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification and CPR certification (required).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Experience leading outdoor recreation activities, including camping, hiking, backpacking, climbing, paddling, or similar pursuits.

Required Skills:

Professional Climbing Guides Institute (PCGI) Guide Certification
American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Certification
American Canoe Association (ACA) Guide Certification
Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) Certification
Lead climbing experience
Technical canyoneering experience
Additional climbing instruction or technical rescue training
Experience in hospitality, tourism, or adventure travel

Preferred Skills:

Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and storytelling abilities.
Strong knowledge of Zion National Park, southern Utah, local history, geology, ecology, flora, fauna, and regional culture.
Ability to confidently communicate daily schedules, weather conditions, activity expectations, and safety information.
Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to prepare clear, engaging daily itineraries and guest programs.
