The CRE operations and logistics manager (OLM) is a self motivated and hardworking individual who has a passion for Idaho rivers and customer service. The CRE OLM is responsible for leading the Confluences team in providing a positive guest and guide experience before, during, and after each commercial trip.
Competencies and core skills required for the CRE OLM position include:
– strong knowledge of whitewater and river travel through commercial rafting history
– demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for rivers and river corridors
– adaptable, able to take challenges in stride
– embraces dynamic working environments, including long hours in the office and outdoors
– strong communication and interpersonal skills
– enjoys interacting with fellow guides, guests, and other river users
– ability to work as part of a team
– robust experience in whitewater specific outdoor sports (proficiency in whitewater river environments, as well as in gear repair and maintenance)
– literacy in basic computer skills
Wilderness First Responder (WFR – 80hr minimum)
Swiftwater Rescue Training (SWR – 16hr minimum)

The OLM can expect to work April through September, with some remote work in December/January possible. The fall and spring months are typically filled finalizing guide hiring, use reports, and gear purchase/repair/maintenance. The summer season begins with a training lap, then overseeing the first commercial launch. Throughout the summer season the operations and logistics manager is responsible for briefing guides on each trip, helping the CRE team rig, facilitating the orientation meeting with guests, organizing shuttles and guest transportation, periodically being Administrator on Call, debriefing the CRE team after each trip, and repairing/maintaining gear between trips. During the summer commercial season, the AM may act as a guide for a given trip, either to help train/mentor guides or to fill in for vacancies as needed. For early or late launches, or in the case of absences in the food packing team, the OLM may be called upon to shop and pack trip food. Each semester during the school year will see the OLM helping lead 2 Main Salmon river trips for Alzar School semester and gap students (4 per year).
Wilderness First Responder certification
Swiftwater Rescue certification
Whitewater rafting and kayaking competency, specifically on multi-day trips (Main Salmon experience preferred)
Strong communication skills
Experience managing a team
