If you want to answer the call to provide the experience our youth need after a challenging year during the pandemic and are excited about being outside exploring the Berkshires this summer—we want to hear from you!
Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA (BCCYMCA) is seeking fun, flexible, and motivated Trip Leaders who are interested in co-leading teenagers for 2 week programs focusing on leadership development, service-learning, and outdoor/cultural exploration in the Berkshires.
Who We Are:
Located on nearly 1500 forested acres in the Town of Becket, MA which is nestled within the beautiful Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA operates multiple programs serving hundreds of campers and staff at a time. Boasting over a century of tradition, our industry leading accredited programs include the Travel & Service Programs, the Becket Day Camp, Camp Becket for boys, and the Chimney Corners Camp for girls.
What You’ll Do:
In summer 2021, the Travel and Service Program is operating four 2-week programs called the Berkshire Adventure and Service Program. These programs will combine day hikes, field trips to cultural opportunities, 2-3 day backpacking trips, and community service projects all in the wonderful Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
• Join our training program from June 12 to June 25th for certifying trainings in first aid, CPR, lifeguarding and professional trainings in Leave No Trace, backcountry travel, leadership development, and service project management.
• Lead up to four, 2 week programs with your co-leader for groups of 8 to 10 youth. There may be flexibility as to how many 2 week programs you can lead depending on your schedule and our availability to match leaders for each session.
• Trip Leaders will live and travel with program participants and support them to have a positive, healthy, and growth-producing experiences.
Apply Today if you:
• Are at least 21 and have a valid driver’s license
• Have experience working with teenagers
• Enjoy hiking and have outdoor skills
• Are able to work with staff and youth in the outdoors, in varying weather conditions, facilitating and participating in all program activities, some of which may be physically demanding.
• Have excellent communication skills, confidence and willingness to interact in a positive and motivational manner with staff, youth, and families.
Dates and Pay:
Accepting applications with a desired start date of June 12th. Last program session ends on August 20th. Weekly salary is competitive. On-site housing is available.
