Overview

Camp Arcadia is a summer camp that strengthens young girls and women ages 7–17. Our mission is to make the world better and more beautiful because you have been in it. We are looking for a dedicated leader to guide our campers through the stunning trails of Maine and New Hampshire.

Note: Due to shared living arrangements in our camper cabins, we are seeking female-identifying candidates for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

– Lead hiking trips 4–5 days per week in the mountains of Maine and the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

– Responsible for organizing and packing for trips, including gear logistics, food preparation, and ensuring overall safety in the backcountry.

– Write detailed trip reports in a timely manner and debrief with the Head of Trips.

– Maintain the organization and equipment within the “Trips Packing Center.”

– Serve as a cabin counselor, fostering a supportive environment and mentoring campers during their time on-site.

– Ability to safely drive a 12-passenger van for trips (up to 6 hours).

Qualifications:

- Age Requirement: 21+

- Certifications: Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR required (Wilderness First Responder/WFR preferred). Lifeguard Training (LGT) is a plus.

- Driving: A clean driving record and the ability to drive a 12-passenger van in the USA.

- Experience: Proven experience leading day, overnight, and multi-day hiking trips, with a passion for working with children.

- Dates: Full commitment from June 5th – August 10th.

Required Skills:

- Technical Hiking Skills: Proficiency in navigation, Leave No Trace (LNT) principles, and backcountry cooking.

- Physical Stamina: Ability to hike difficult terrain while carrying group gear and supporting camper needs.

- Communication: Strong leadership skills to manage group dynamics in remote settings.

About Camp Arcadia for Girls

We are a residential girls camp in Maine entering into our 110th season. Our staff comes from all over the United States and the World. As a Camp, we have a strong belief in the power of outdoor experiences for young women. We are in the Sebago lake region of western Maine, near the white mountains of Maine and New Hampshire, and about an hour from Portland.
