Looking for an amazing summer job? We are seeking energetic young adults that love the outdoors and working with children!
At Camp Celo we celebrate the joys of simple living and the stimulating fun of physical work. Our Adventure Camp program for 13-14 year olds is focused on developing wilderness leadership skills. Our counselors lead groups of 6 campers on 5-day and 7-day backpacking trips through some of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
While back at base camp in Celo, activities include harvesting vegetables and caring for the farm animals, arts and crafts, music and singing, cooperative games, river swimming and inner tubing. Our camp is a technology and smartphone-free environment. We grow about half of the food we eat in our organic garden. We teach campers the importance of diversity and respect for the natural world. The spirit of our camp is grounded in Quaker philosophy, without being religious.
The dates of employment are: June 21- August 10, 2022
Salary starts at $2,000 with bonus for Wilderness First Aid and Lifeguard Trainings (Trainings available onsite June 8 – 11)
Counselors must be at least 19 years old, and have experience working with children or wilderness leadership skills.
We require Wilderness First Aid Certification. WFA and Lifeguard training is available on-site June 8-11 for those not already certified.
About Camp Celo
For over sixty-five years, our family has welcomed campers to join us for the summer on the Camp Celo farm. The farm setting provides the basis for much of the camp activity, with the children caring for animals and harvesting food from the garden. There is hiking and camping in the surrounding forests and mountains, and swimming and tubing on the South Toe River. Activities include arts & crafts, skits, wood shop, nature appreciation and big group games.
