Overview
Camp Illahee is hiring Whitewater Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Mountain Bike, Rope Course Instructors for summer 2024. We are a residential girls’ summer camp with classic in-camp activities and daily trips all around western North Carolina for our adventure activities. If you are a climber, kayaker, hiker, or ropes course instructor looking to work with kids in a fun and challenging environment, we invite you to join us! As a climbing, kayaking, or hiking activity specialist you will work with other trip leaders 6 days/week to take groups of 8-12 campers into the beautiful forests, mountains, and rivers of western North Carolina like Looking Glass, Rumbling Bald, the Tuckasegee River, the French Broad, and so much more. Ropes course instructors will lead cabin groups through ground school and our high ropes course and zipline on camp property focusing on fun, challenge, and cabin bonding!
Pay is competitive and based on certifications and experience. Orientation begins May 29th and campers are present for trips June 9-August 9 (option to work until Aug 16 in other areas of camp if desired). This is a non-cabin staff position leaving evenings generally free with some assistance for evening programs and overnights required periodically. A typical day is from 8:30-5:30. All meals are provided on camp and housing can be provided if needed.

Qualifications:
-Wilderness First Aid (provided by camp if needed), Wilderness First Responder preferred
-Age 21+ preferred (some options available for 18+)
-Enthusiastic and patient
-Excited to teach youth adventure activities and nature stewardship
-Safety-minded, able to teach and guide activity safely
-Strong technical experience
Required Skills:
Experience leading students/clients on Whitewater Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, or Rope Courses, depending on position applying for.
