Overview

Together with the Program Director and other seasonal administrators, the Challenge Course Director is responsible for overall day-to-day delivery of Manito-wish’s Leadership Program. They also work with the Program Director to maintain and operate the Lang Challenge Course and Indoor Rock Climbing Wall, including frequent supervision. The Challenge Course Director helps to train and supervise Leadership staff throughout the spring, summer and fall, including belay training, ground facilitation training and community building. The position typically runs from March to late October.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 21 years old
2. Previous supervisory / management experience
3. Significant previous ropes course and ground initiative facilitation experience
4. Desire to work with youth to develop social-emotional skills and build strong communities
5. Strong leadership and organizational skills
6. Good character, integrity and adaptability
7. Enthusiasm, patience and self-control
8. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and communicate effectively

About Camp Manito-wish YMCA

Our 100+ year old Summer Camp provides a combination of traditional camp activities (archery, horsemanship, swimming, etc.) and wilderness tripping . Our programming puts emphasis on the wilderness experience and we use it as a resource to facilitate growth and leadership development in partnership with our in-camp experience. Along with Summer Camp, Manito-wish is also features a robust wilderness expeditions program called Outpost and Leadership Program that facilitates teambuilding activities for a multitude of camp and community groups.
