About Our Job
This is an on-call position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules.
Our Recreation Division operates an impressive network of 30 recreation centers that offer affordable programs and a wide variety of activities to enrich the lives of Denver residents and visitors year-round. Certified Personal Trainers provide one-on-one instruction in fitness programming, demonstrating proper techniques and methods for participants and ensuring a safe, fun and enriching fitness environment. Job Responsibilities:
Develop exercise programs designed for a variety of levels and lead clients through workouts in individual, small group, and/or large group settings
Demonstrates appropriate modifications of exercises and assist clients in setting attainable goals.
Performs consultations and fitness assessments on clients and potential clients
Assists in recruitment, retention, program marketing, and special events
Provides professional, safe and effective demonstrations while offering ongoing motivation and feedback to clients
Creates enthusiastic and energetic workout environments while providing specific emphasis on safety and proper execution of movements
Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of cardiovascular and resistance training instruction, flexibility training, functional training, safety/spotting, fitness testing, and general nutrition
Meets the outstanding customer service standards of Denver Parks and Recreation
Keeps current on all certifications and industry practices
Keeps a schedule of times to train participants in the mornings, evenings, and/or weekends
Shows a willingness to answer questions and utilize positive conflict resolution skills
Maintains a clean and safe orderly work area
Keeps all client forms and files up to date
Complies with employee procedures and expectations as detailed in the employee manual
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience Requirement: None
Education/Experience One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement
License/Certifications: Certification as an instructor and/or trainer in yoga, step aerobics, kick boxing, boot camp, hip-hop, interval training, sports performance, strength training, Pilates, Zumba, indoor cycling, core co
Preferred Skills:
We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Certified Personal Trainers who can provide engaging programming, with an eye for safety and fun! Our ideal candidate will possess:
Current NCCA nationally accredited Personal Training certification (such as but not but not limited to: NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or AFAA)
Industry related degree (not required) must be combined with nationally accredited certification
Previous Personal Training experience in an organized fitness establishment is a plus but not
