Overview
DSES Summer Instructors have one of the best jobs around. They are responsible for planning and teaching adaptive lessons in mountain biking, road cycling, rock climbing, flatwater paddling, and other summer recreation opportunities. Summer Instructors facilitate fun adaptive adventures and helping people of all ages with disabilities explore the trails and lakes of the Eastern Sierra. They also support program planning and logistics for half-day, full day, and multi-day programs.

Qualifications:
Basic first aid and CPR certification required
Current lifeguard certification or ability to earn certification this summer
Wilderness First Aid certification or higher preferred, access to training may be available
in early summer
Required Skills:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record mandatory
Personal mountain biking experience to an intermediate level
Preferred Skills:
Experience driving a passenger truck and hauling equipment in trailers
Experience working with people with disabilities
Experience teaching mountain biking, flat water paddling, road cycling, rock climbing, and/or hiking
About Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra
Our programs provide opportunities for people of all ages with physical and/or intellectual disabilities to have fun, healthy, inspiring experiences outdoors in the beautiful Eastern Sierra. In winter, our athletes alpine ski, Nordic ski, and snowboard at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. In summer, we teach a variety of sports throughout the Eastern Sierra including road cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, hiking, and camping. In addition to daily lessons, we offer a variety of multi-day camps for individuals, families and veterans.
