Overview

The Programs Manager will be an essential member of the Senior Management Team, and will directly supervise our Site Managers and Training Coordinators, assuming primary responsibility for program design, safety, quality, and execution.

Program Planning and Design
• Serve as a full-time member of the Field Management and Senior Management Teams
• Collaborate with Client Relations and Sales Teams to draft program options based on client needs and objectives
• Review and finalize program schedules and itineraries to ensure overall quality and efficiency
• Collaborate with Operations Manager to review program budgets and annual costs to ensure program pricing is in-line with program costs
• In collaboration with the Director of Education, analyze and forecast staffing needs for the short and long term, and institute strategies for over and under-staffed periods
• Initiate and monitor ongoing quality and efficiency improvements

Staff Management
• Prepare and update field staff work schedule
• Conduct performance reviews of site managers and training coordinators
• Ensure that safety guidelines and procedures are followed across Dragonfly bases, bi-annual safety checks are conducted, and that Dragonfly equipment, activity sites, and program activities are in compliance with internationally recognized safety standards.

Program Evaluation
• Review course and teacher feedback on an ongoing basis, make changes as needed, compile findings seasonally and, in collaboration with the Director of Education, drive program improvements based on the feedback
• Work with Site Managers to ensure consistency of program delivery across Dragonfly bases.
• Create bi-annual reports and draft recommendations for program improvement

Time Commitment
Initial contracts with Dragonfly are for two years with a 6-month probationary period. Ideally, the new Programs Manager will be interested in a longer-term commitment to Dragonfly, and become a key part of Dragonfly’s future.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements - Applicants Must Have: A university degree, preferably in outdoor or experiential education or related field., 5+ years of experience with outdoor/adventure education organizations in a leadership role, Depth of knowledge of international safety standards for outdoor education organizations, Experience working with student groups, Experience in designing outdoor programs for school-age participants, outdoor certifications/current certifications in CPR/first aid (WAFA or above

Required Skills:

Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, high level of English fluency (native or near native), strong written and verbal communication skills, strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
