Overview

The Forest Stewards Guild is hiring a full-time Field Coordinator position in Santa Fe, New Mexico! The Field Coordinator primarily supports logistics, administration, and supervision of the Forest Stewards Youth Corps (FSYC) and other field-based forestry and fire crews. During off seasons for FSYC the coordinator will have other duties as assigned.

Position Description

The Field Coordinator position will work primarily to support the Forest Stewards Youth Corps (FSYC) program (www.foreststewardsguild.org/fsyc). The mission of the FSYC is to provide training, education, and employment in natural resource management fields for 16-25 year olds from forest dependent communities in New Mexico. FSYC supports high school aged youth with our summer program and 18-25 year olds with the fall Fire & Fuels program. FSYC has crews in the field from May through November.

The successful candidate will have leadership experience managing field crews and a passion for youth development. The Field Coordinator will spend approximately 50%-75% of their time in the field supporting crews, depending on the season with some overnight travel. The remainder of their time will be spent supporting logistical and administrative tasks including the ones listed below.

Duties for the Field Coordinator include:

Assisting with the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of FSYC and other field-based staff.

Assisting with FSYC Crew Leader and Crew Member training, leadership development, and educational curriculum development and delivery.

Supporting the Southwest Regional Director with administrative tasks such as overseeing timesheets, invoices, performance reports, vehicle rentals, AmeriCorps awards, and expense reporting.

Act as a liaison between FSYC Crew Leaders and field-based staff and the Southwest Region Director.

Working with collaborators and partners to facilitate and develop FSYC projects.

Building a culture of physical, and mental safety for crew members and leaders.

Working alongside FSYC and other field crews.

Represent the Forest Stewards Guild in The Corps Network.

Supporting and participating alongside FSYC, field crews, and Guild staff on prescribed fires.

Supporting the Guild’s fire management program in prescribed fire operations as needed.

Supporting field crews by coordinating logistics related to travel, food, and lodging.
