Middle School Spanish Teacher
Highland School
Warrenton, VA

Founded in 1928, Highland School is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory
day school serving approximately 500 students in grades PK-12, including 140 middle school
students in grades 5-8. Highland prepares students to thrive, lead, and serve in a diverse and
dynamic world, developing essential skills and character by challenging them with a dynamic and demanding academic and co-curricular program.

The Middle School Spanish teacher reports to the Middle School Director and works collaboratively with other teachers in the Middle School. The Middle School places a strong emphasis on habits of learning, which include growth mindset, personal responsibility, communication, and organization. All students in fifth-seventh grade study Spanish, and the courses are designed to expose students to Spanish language and culture. When students reach eighth grade, they have the option of choosing Spanish I, French I, or Latin I for high school credit. Though often the Spanish I course is taught by the Upper School Spanish teacher, occasionally the Middle School Spanish teacher has the opportunity to teach it.
