Overview

As the Outdoor Leadership Teacher you will develop and lead this unique 3-week course, which aims to help our students develop and build on essential life skills like communication, decision-making, teamwork and confidence.

Our campus at Yale offers the perfect backdrop for this course, with a wealth of facilities available. During the course you will lead your students through a range of varied and exciting outdoor activities, from sailing to group games and team-building exercises, helping them to reach their personal goals and have fun.

You will have your own class of international students aged 13-18 years old. Our classes are kept small in order to provide individual attention, personalised instruction and create an encouraging, supportive and fun environment for students to learn while making new friends from around the world.

Although we provide every teacher a guide as to what each lesson should achieve, we ask our teachers to bring their own experience and personality to each class and create their own stimulating and challenging lesson plans.

We are looking for an experienced Outdoor Educator/facilitator who is an expert in leading team-building activities for young people and is confident in their skills and knowledge to develop an exciting and challenging three-week programme.

All of our summer positions are fully residential and all of our staff teams will be actively involved in the various events and activities that we put on for our students.

The salary for this summer school role is $2,300 and we also provide accommodation and meals for the duration of the programme.

We need you at Yale from 12th July – 7th August 2023.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

>Teaching a class of international students, 3 hours per day, 4 afternoons per week for the duration of the 3 week programme
>Creating and delivering lessons tailored to improving students’ confidence and leadership skills in an outdoor setting
>Taking part in evening activities (compulsory rota basis)
>Making sure students are safe and happy at all times
>Being a positive role model

Required Skills:

>Previous experience in an outdoor education role is essential
>Previous teaching experience is essential

Preferred Skills:

Experience in teaching international students is preferred
