Lead guide responsibilities include leading and instructing field-based courses and climbs on snow, ice, and rock, client communication before and after trips, packing-out group climbing and camping equipment, trip planning and coordination, route selection and navigation, group management, conflict resolution, course debriefs, and mentoring assistant guides.
Lead guides will work closely with the Climbing Programs Director to plan, pack-out, and debrief trips. Lead guides oversee assistant guides in the delivery of field courses and climbs.
At least five years of professional mountain guiding or similar experience.
Completion of guide-track courses and exams through the American Mountain Guides Association or other IFMGA affiliates (ski, rock, and/or alpine disciplines).
Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT certification
AIARE Avalanche Level 2/Pro 1 Training or similar certification.
Preferred: Leave-No-Trace Trainer or Master Educator.
Ability to perform crevasse rescue as a solo rescuer.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent group management skills.
Must enjoy working with beginners on basic-level courses and climbs as well as in more complex terrain.
