Overview

We are looking for positive, hard-working, team-oriented individuals who would like to spend a fun summer, working a rewarding job as an intern for a sea kayaking guiding outfit with friendly people in a beautiful place. We lead small groups of people on sea kayak tours in tidewater glacier zones and throughout the area of Prince William Sound surrounding Valdez. Interns help run the office, maintain equipment, shuttle guests and gear, assistant guide, and eventually lead guide trips. Ultimately, this position offers a wholesome exposure to everything we do, and should equip interns with an understanding of what it takes to run a successful guiding business in remote Alaska. Gaining college credit is an option, but not absolutely necessary.

Qualifications:

Prior outdoor experience sea kayaking and/or guiding is preferred, but not necessary for the internship. This is a great way for those light on experience to get their foot in the guiding industry door. All interns must hold current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Required Skills:

Strong judgement, sound common sense, good communication, sharp organizational skills, and being an upbeat people person are all musts!

Preferred Skills:

An ability to get along well with coworkers is key.
