RMI Expeditions is hiring a seasonal Expedition Logistics Assistant! RMI Expeditions is the premier mountain guiding service on Mt. Rainier and Denali. We also guide all the seven summits as well as many other major and minor peaks around the world. Our busy season is May through September when we have many Rainier climbs and climbs in the nearby North Cascades, but we don’t stop in the Winter. We use this time to prepare for Denali, conduct international climbs in the southern hemisphere, and get ready for our next summer season. Our Expedition Logistics team is responsible for managing and maintaining all the food and equipment logistics for all our programs whether they be in our backyard or across the world. The team works out of a warehouse building at the Rainier Basecamp in Ashford. They are also responsible for helping to maintain our fleet of seven vehicles and our three housing properties that house over 60 mountain guides during the summer. Bunk-room style housing near our headquarters in Ashford, WA is provided during the climbing season (April – September) at no cost. Pay: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour
In addition to attention to detail and organization skills, typical work for the Expedition Logistics Assistant position is varied and may include:
• Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment
• Preparing and packing mountain food
• Washing a shuttle vehicle
• Checking on housing facilities like mowing a lawn or replacing a lightbulb
• Checking various communication technologies
• Inspecting and tracking climbing ropes
• Reviewing trip schedules to plan a few days or weeks in advance
• Receiving feedback from mountain guides

Experience with Microsoft Office, ability to stand for hours at a time, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., ability to stay busy with minimal direction, good attention to detail, willingness to do a large variety of tasks from repairing equipment, to packing mountain food, to cleaning out a shuttle vehicle. It is important that the logistics team communicates effectively with each-other and the mountain guides to correctly prepare supplies and re-evaluate our operations.
Experience and/or an eagerness to know and learn more about the sport of mountaineering is a big plus but not required.
