The Wilderness School has been serving the youth of CT since 1974. As an adaptive Outward Bound style expedition program, Wilderness School facilitates character and positive youth development programs via short courses and expeditions. Backpacking, climbing, canoeing, and ropes courses are primary modes of activity. Fall programs are shorter in nature (up to 5-days). Our summer programs can be up top 20-Days in length. Wilderness School is looking to hire staff committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. A love of outdoors and outdoor activities is helpful. A desire to grow as a professional and broaden experiences is wanted. Team players work best. Fall positions can lead to future spring and summer positions in following year. Approximately 10 weeks of work (about 45 “per-diems” @ ~171.00 per diem, Total ~$7695) Housing supported- Bunk style cabins on campus with access to kitchens.
Climbing, ropes course, first aid and paddling skills certifications helpful. Lifeguarding a plus. Familiarity with outdoor living and travel...yes please. A passion for supporting others and working as a team....excellent. Baseline- Strong character, reliability, and motivation...we can support development if these are in place.
