Location (City and State): TBD – Training will be out of state. Travel, lodging, and food will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a crew leader, you will be working with a group of three crew members 18+ planting trees in Lake County, IN. The crew will be responsible for the instillation of 447 trees/saplings and 333 seedlings. The crew will also lead demonstrations of tree planting for local volunteers and host eight community volunteer tree planting events. As a crew leader, you will be responsible for the management of an SCA provided vehicle, track and manage crew budget, complete weekly administrative duties including but not limited to uploading crew photos, submitting output logs, reporting incidents, check-in with program manager, approve timecard for crew members and ensure safety for crew members. As a crew leader you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in NW Indiana communities and inspire crew members and build community.

Qualifications:

Leader Qualifications:

Experience working with youth or young adults, teaching, or environmental education a plus.
Experience with conservation work skills or related skills preferred – i.e., trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening.
Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more.
CRP certification & Wilderness First Aid or ap
