Overview

The Director of Teaching and Learning works closely with faculty Mountain Academy Jackson Campus (MAJC) and school leadership to support curriculum development, strengthen instructional practices, and align assessment systems that demonstrate student growth and program effectiveness. This role also contributes to general school administration and may include providing direct instruction to students during a portion of the week. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful instructional leader who enjoys working alongside teachers, strengthening systems that support learning, and contributing to a vibrant school community.
Primary Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instruction
● Support teachers in curriculum planning and development aligned with school mission and academic standards
● Help ensure vertical alignment and coherence across grade levels and subject areas
● Collaborate with teachers to strengthen instructional practices and student engagement
● Support the integration of place-based and experiential learning into the curriculum
Assessment and Program Alignment
● Assist with the development and implementation of assessment systems that measure student growth
● Support faculty in analyzing student data to inform instruction and program improvement
● Help align classroom assessments with school-wide academic goals
Faculty Support and Collaboration
● Partner with teachers to reflect on instructional practices and professional growth
● Facilitate collaboration across grade levels and departments
● Contribute to a culture of professional learning and shared leadership
School Leadership and Administration
● Support general school operations and administrative responsibilities
● Participate in leadership team meetings and school planning
● Assist with initiatives that strengthen the academic program and overall student experience
Teaching Responsibilities
● Provide direct instruction to students during a portion of the week, depending on school needs and candidate expertise

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, curriculum, or a related field preferred
● Experience teaching in elementary or middle school settings
● Demonstrated experience with curriculum design and instructional leadership
● Strong understanding of student assessment and data-informed instruction
● Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and school leaders
● Excellent communication and organizational skills
