Overview

Position Purpose:
Faculty members at Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools – Teton Valley Campus collaborate with other faculty and the leadership team to implement transformative place-based curriculum. Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools – Teton Valley Campus aims to educate the whole child by integrating academic engagement and character development with a community focus. A faculty member develops and facilitates project-based, emergent curricula and assessments that align with the mission of Teton Science Schools. Faculty take an active role in the Teton Science Schools community, promoting the school and developing community partnerships.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Google Apps
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external constituents
Ability to manage risk and make leadership decisions in front and backcountry settings.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily based at Victor Campus with occasional travel in surrounding areas.
Stretches of time outdoors in all weather, including extreme temperatures and arid conditions
Able to drive 15 passenger vans & minibuses with participants
Able to write / type / communicate
Able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours
May be expected to work evenings, weekends or overtime to support special programs/events
Bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, sitting, standing, standing with movement, walking, climbing stairs and ladders
Responsibilities:
Teaching and Instruction:
Teach classes according to identified curricular area(s)
Develop curriculum that is authentic, individualized, and project-based
Create authentic, competency-based assessments and track student progress
Co-create student portfolios each year
Maintain positive and active communication between parents, students, staff, and administration
Create biweekly classroom newsletter
Create daily documentation
Lead trimester parent-teacher conferences
Work collaboratively within the division to support/implement all aspects of the program
Create and maintain a safe and loving environment
Community Engagement:
Attend required school & community events
Participate in Farm and Garden programming daily
Participate in teacher weeks and professional development days
Attend all staff and division meetings
Take a leadership role with one community event per year
Support admissions and community building at the school
One TSS Responsibilities:
Engage and collaborate across TSS program areas when possible.
Further development of practice and implementation of place-based education pedagogies.
Proactively and positively share the TSS mission and program structure with external stakeholders.
