Overview

Responsibilities:
As Apprentice Guide, the Employee is required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner and in collaboration with the Guides and Head of School:
Learn and practice the role of Guide and complete the Onboarding Quest, subbing for Guides when relevant
Supervise all learners within the Elementary Studio, holding them accountable to the Studio Contract and their responsibilities
Help Guides set up Studios and assure heroes keep the space clean and tidy
1-on-1 Socratic math and reading support for learners
Design and lead signature learning experiences (when planned ahead)
Chromebook and badge approval support
Co-create with Guides incentive structure for Heroes to want to direct their own learning
Be present for team meetings, Open Houses, Welcome and Closing Parties, Exhibitions, and other school events
Assure world-class communication to heroes, staff, and parents, and report serious matters confidentially to Head Guides and Head of School

Arrange and prepare for a substitute when your absence is necessary.
Continual learning from Institute findings and contributions to the Institute’s learning agenda
Other tasks as assigned by Guides and/or Head of School, e.g., 1-on-1 check-ins, facilities requests, Badge Reviews, Launches, Socratic Target Practice, and others
Run a thriving Elementary Studio for 25-30 learners in grades 2-5.
Collaborate with the rest of The Forest School’s team to create our school’s Signature Learning Experiences.
Supervise each Elementary Studio learner’s academic progress through authentic, constructive relationships
Maintain effective communication with all Elementary learners’ parents/guardians.
Be a responsible and present employee and part of The Forest School community.
