A student centric, experiential education-based media office supporting Adventure WV, Campus Recreation, Collegiate Recovery and WELLWVU.

The primary responsibility of the Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Communications is to work directly with the Multi-Media Specialist to enhance the overall marketing for Student Wellness programs and services. This is a production/deadline-oriented position with the need for developing highly creative concepts and progressive use of marketing trends effective for a college audience. This Graduate Assistant will be responsible for a variety of marketing
initiatives including advertising, promotions, campus outreach, social media, video creation, and staff training. This person will need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills and possess the ability to work with diverse populations.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT May 1, or August 1, 2022 – August, 2023

Minimum Hours: 20 hours/week, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Marketing, Communications, Business Management, Graphic Design, Physical Education, Recreation or related field required.
Experience using Adobe software, task management apps, familiarity using a variety of social media websites, and video editing.
Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Minimum GPA requirements: Semester GPA: 3.0 Cumulative GPA: 3.0

Preferred Skills:

Experience with staff recruitment and training.
Experience with team leadership and management.
Experience with event planning.
Experience working within a campus recreational/wellness setting and direct management of student employees.
Strong writing skills and familiarity with AP formatting and style editing.

Adventure WV began as a small Outdoor Orientation Program for incoming WVU first-year students. We have since expanded our offerings to include an Outdoor Recreation Center, Climbing Wall, Outdoor Education Center, Challenge Course, Zip Canopy Tour, International Study Abroad Programs, Leadership Training opportunities, and many other Outdoor and Experiential Education programs.
Our initial vision to provide wilderness-based college orientation programs for first-year students has developed in to a more comprehensive charge of developing adventure education programming for students of all levels, supporting adjustment to college life, retention, and career success by assisting student development in self knowledge, team work, and leadership skills.
