We take a great amount of care to choose instructors who are talented, experienced, and safety-conscious. We try to make the process as easy as possible for you. World Leadership School hires 1-2 instructors per program. Instructors are responsible for the implementation of objectives, curriculum, group dynamics, program logistics with local country coordinator and subcontractors, risk management, accounting, program evaluations, final trip inventory, and have the overall responsibility for all other aspects of the program.
The following are qualifications for instructors:
Bachelor’s degree or above. Advanced degrees are a plus.
5 years of teaching experience in the classroom, wilderness setting or overseas programs.
Extensive travel experience in the developing world.
Current WFR or the ability to complete the course prior to joining WLS. We reimburse first aid courses after contracting for two or more programs.
Flexibility/Patience/Organization: Must have the patience and calm to respond to stress, crisis, change, and non-
glamorous tasks in positive and productive ways. Must have the ability to organize and assure a smooth flow of activities and improvise when necessary.
Personality/Motivation: Must be self-motivated and be able to solve problems independently. Must be able to build positive working relationships with students and – most difficult of all – senior faculty.

World Leadership School is a B Corporation that runs outdoor adventure leadership programs in the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Our mission is to empower young leaders to find innovative solutions to the world’s pressing problems. Our instructors, located in countries throughout Latin America, East Africa, and Asia, facilitate environmentally sustainable and socially responsible experiential learning in an expeditionary setting for our students. The expeditionary adventures include rafting, hiking, zip lining, and snorkeling. Our projects take place in rural environments, so our instructors undergo Wilderness First Responder training. Our instructors work full-time during our outdoor adventure leadership programs that run from late February to August. They are qualified outdoor education professional programs that run from late February to August.
