Overview
The Assistant Rafting Operations Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall management of Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire Whitewater rafting departments. Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire Whitewater offer whitewater rafting and guided kayak trips on the Deerfield, West, Millers and Concord rivers. We seek to provide an industry leading whitewater experience for our guests and employees. This includes supporting continuity of operations across departments in hiring, staff training, customer service, risk management, trip logistics as well as maintaining company culture & values. This is a seasonal position, running from April to the end of October, though opportunities for year-round employment exist. The Assistant Rafting Operations Manager reports directly to the Rafting Operations Manager and Senior Management at Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire East. While the position’s main focus is the rafting and guided kayak programs, all managers at Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire East are expected to contribute to the overall tasks and needs of the company as a whole.

The Assistant Rafting Operations Manager helps oversees raft guides and trip leaders, which includes:
Coordination across departments
Help Identify staff training needs
Adhere to and enforce all systems within the rafting department.
Brainstorm and develop solutions to problems that pop up during the season.
Facilitate staff reservation and POS software training as needed
Assist risk management audits
Delegate tasks to enhance programmatic delivery
Staff and trip leader training:
Help lead and develop a “Train-the-trainer” program for new guide training
Participate in new guide training
Instill strong feedback mechanisms for guide development
Help lead trip leader trainings throughout year
Maintain a consistent on-river presence to mentor guides and trip leaders
Administration & Program Planning:
Help schedule guides and plan daily staffing assignments and needs
Help coordinate shared bus scheduling and logistics
Help coordinate photographer scheduling, logistics and photo software.
Work as part of a risk management management team to ensure aligned documentation and process between companies
Attend staff meetings and professional development training as needed
Additional duties and tasks:
Seeks overall areas of growth for both Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire Whitewater
Assist with grounds and maintenance at Zoar Outdoor
Annual and ongoing boat and gear maintenance
Oversee vehicle maintenance and cleaning
Understand layers of confidentiality within the hierarchy of Zoar
Assist in other tasks and duties necessary for the overall success of Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire Whitewater
