Official Title: Expedition Program Coordinator

You will lead a team of expedition and backcountry instructors at our California Expedition Program! Our small but mighty CA Expedition Team will lead 2 groups per week through a mix of backpacking, paddling, and multi-sport adventure programs (paddle, hiking, and biking).

Location: Our program is based out of Menlo College in the Bay Area, CA
Work Schedule: Sunday – Friday, with frequent trips and overnight stays in the field with our program groups.
Training: In person training starts May 1 – 3 Additional pre-season training takes place in Colorado May 23 – June 3. Transportation to and from required trainings + accommodations provided!
Programming runs between June 13 – August 1.
Compensation: $1352/week plus additional bonuses for advanced certifications: $125 – $400 per certification

Job Duties
Lead and empower Camp Instructors by providing mentorship, hosting engaging staff meetings and continuing education segments, and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace.
Complete behind-the-scenes administrative work to include creating camp and staff schedules, uploading pictures, ensuring compliance standards are being upheld, conducting payroll audits, and ensuring logistical accuracy.
Provide excellent customer service to our campers and parents by addressing problems immediately, communicating clearly and frequently, responding to parent survey feedback, and guiding staff on Avid4 best practices.
Manage the risk in your program to minimize the number of incidents. You will participate in incident response and oversee the timely completion of incident reports and first aid forms.
Further our mission to “empower kids to choose active, outdoor lifestyles” and orovide our campers, parents and staff with an unmatched experience.
Fulfill the role of instructor on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

Must meet American Camp Association minimum age requirements, i.e., must be 20 years or older by the start of camp season
Must qualify to drive camp vehicles, i.e., have a valid driver’s license for 3+ years and clean driving record
Possess a Wilderness First Responder (or EMT) and CPR certification by the start of Training

Required Skills:

Must have demonstrated expertise in at least one of our core sports (paddling, backpacking, climbing, mountain biking)
Experience managing/supervising a team of outdoor recreation professionals

Preferred Skills:

Due to California regulations, in order to drive our 15-passenger vans, staff must either possess a CDL or non-CA based drivers license. Candidates who do not possess a CA driver's license will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
