Overview

Position Purpose:
The Maintenance Staff assist the Camp Caretaker to maintain Camp facilities, including grounds-keeping, painting, carpentry, laundry, dining hall cleanup, dish washing, chopping wood, plumbing, trash removal and recycling and general facilities upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:
-Provides support to all areas and departments at Camp
-Dishwashing
-Trash pick up and disposal
-Keeping Camp clean and safe for all campers
-Laundry as needed
-Performs repairs and maintains functioning equipment
-Painting, light carpentry, basic plumbing, chopping wood
-Landscaping
-Other duties as assigned

Schedule:
-Temporary/Seasonal Summer position.
-Applicants should be available June 10 – August 7, 2024 to work & live on-site at our Camp location in Northern California (Mendocino County).
Staff members work 40-56 hours/week depending on position with two days off per week. Days off vary per session.

Lodging :
-Lodging is provided for all staff on site. Maintenance Staff will not be required to stay in a cabin with youth on a regular basis, but will be assigned bunk-style indoor housing that may be shared with up to 8 other staff members.

Pay
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependant on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid – level or top of the range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate for this temporary summer position from June 10 – August 7, 2024, is $4,157.12.

Required Skills:

-Experience in general handy work

Physical Requirements:

-Must be able to lift 50lbs.
-Must be able to walk on uneven terrain for at least 3 miles
-Must be able to stand for 8 hours (with breaks)
-Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 30° to 100°

Preferred Skills:

-Plumbing experience
-Ability to work with youth in a positive manner

About Camp Mendocino

Camp is located four hours north of San Francisco and is spread over 2,000 acres. We provide transportation between San Francisco and Camp at the start and end of the summer.

All Camp Employees are expected to live, sleep and work at Camp. Camp Mendocino provides meals and lodging for the duration of the employment period.

We offer a wide range of activities at Camp including: swimming, a three part challenge course, mountain biking, archery, dance and drama, arts and crafts, environmental education, sports, overnight camping, and much more!
