Overview
FBRA is seeking candidates who are interested in teaching middle school students in and out of the classroom at the Boys Program. The core academic subjects in the FBRA programs include: Math, Science, Spanish, Humanities, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. Staff at FBRA serve in multiple roles: as teachers of a core academic subject, outdoor trip leaders for day and overnight adventure-based field experiences, and for additional duties such as teaching PE & electives. Additional administrative and “head of” duties may be available in addition to the core staff position for interested candidates.
Potential staff must have a passion for developing relationships with adolescents, an affinity for (and experience in) outdoor/wilderness settings, and a willingness to wear many different hats beyond that of a classroom teacher. We work hard and we expect a lot of our teachers, and we find that the rewards of this calling are infinite.
The French Broad River Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national and ethnic origin, gender, or lifestyle in hiring. Employment is open to all qualified applicants. Furthermore, we believe that inclusion and diversity actively support the school’s mission of “building character and integrity,” and that a culture of inclusion, empowerment, equity, and justice is essential to all of the school’s endeavors. Central to this are the abilities of our teachers to identify, analyze, and act on issues of equity, justice, and inclusion. FBRA teachers must be committed to strengthening the organization’s role as an institution that shapes leaders who are prepared for a diverse world.
