Big Sky Youth Empowerment (BYEP) is a nonprofit adventure-based mentoring program in Bozeman, Montana, that has served vulnerable youth in the Gallatin Valley for the past 22 years. BYEP offers a group social emotional life skills curriculum paired with outdoor adventures to youth in grades 7-12, serving around 150 teens annually. Our mission is to provide opportunities for vulnerable teenagers in the Gallatin Valley to experience success, and become contributing members of our community through group mentorship and experiential adventures.

The Business Development & Events Manager works directly with the Executive Director, Data & Grants Manager, and Marketing & Communications Manager as a part of the BYEP Development Team. As a BYEP ambassador, they will expand our presence in the Bozeman community, establish and build our relationships with local businesses, as well as national partners and individual donors. The BDEM is an event planner and plays a critical role on our fundraising team, helping the organization successfully execute 3 events each year that raise over $800,000+ annually. The BDEM is BYEP’s primary contact for business partners and sponsors, works closely with vendors, and identifies opportunities for new fundraising events.

The ideal candidate is a confident, motivated self-starter who works with a strategic mindset. They have strong attention to detail, and are able to expertly communicate with retailers, businesses, donors, and colleagues alike. They share a passion for building community and have an interest in programs that focus on youth development. This candidate loves the outdoors and BYEP’s mission, and brings a fun, positive energy to the workplace.

Full-time, exempt, occasional weekends and evenings required
Salary: $60-65k DOE
Annual raise contingent upon positive performance review

Required Skills:

Ability to effectively multi task and problem solve without direct supervision or guidance
3+ years experience in fundraising, development, sales, project or event management
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Ability to work effectively with different teams and individuals within the organization
Ability to create and manage budgets, track expenditures and maintain detailed records
Clean driving record & ability to pass background check

Preferred Skills:

Bachelor's degree in applicable field (Business, Marketing, Management or equivalent)
5+ years experience in fundraising, development, sales, event or nonprofit management
Management, training, and recruitment experience
Familiarity with Salesforce NPSP or equivalent CRM platform, and Quickbooks Online
Experience using fundraising platforms such as Classy
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and retain stakeholder relationships, make cold calls, and meet with prospective donors and clients
