The Outdoor Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, executing, and directing the development and implementation of community recreation outdoor programs designed to meet the needs of the community, through a variety of classes, camps, and clinics. The Outdoor Supervisor trains, evaluates, and supervises employees and volunteers in the Outdoor division. Other duties include growing the Outdoor program through advertising and making community connections, overseeing equipment records, purchases, and inspections, and managing payments.
Shift: Monday – Friday, some weekends may be required.

Supervises the Outdoor Division of the Recreation Department through hiring, training, and providing work direction and problem solving assistance of division employees
Secures and schedules volunteers
Oversees daily operation of
Outdoor programs
Analyzes, interprets, and effectively communicates policies and procedures
Oversees outdoor gear & equipment
Manages group payments and fiscal management for the division
Purchases and manages payments for recreation equipment/supplies
Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with area organizations
Communicates and coordinates with other Town Departments
Facilitates outdoor –related special events
Performs other duties assigned by management
Maintains Trip Log
Enhances and grows the Outdoor division program by advertising programs and developing a client base through community connections
Examples of programs to be developed, planned, and organized include summer camps, canoeing & kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, caving, environmental education, and mountain biking
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the following areas:
Methods, techniques, principles, and procedures used in the planning, developing, and leading outdoor adventure programs
Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation
Skill based programming, principles and practices of budget development
Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
