Overview

Boulder County Parks & Open Space Department (POS) has one opening for a Seasonal Volunteer Work Project Coordinator. The position will perform a variety of duties in the area of volunteer project management. Duties will include assisting crew leaders with projects, leading outdoor volunteer work projects, scouting for invasive weeds and trail maintenance needs, site prep for volunteer projects, and tool maintenance. This position regularly interacts with youth and requires wearing a uniform.

This is a hourly non-benefited position. The schedule will be Tuesdays-Saturdays, 40 hours weekly, with an anticipated start date of April 18th. This position will work out of POS headquarters, located at 5201 St. Vrain Road, Longmont, CO 80503. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Examples of Duties
Drive volunteers in 12-passenger vans and trailers (training provided) to help lead forestry, seed collection, planting, trail maintenance, and other open space work projects
Lead groups of volunteers on trail maintenance, invasive weed removal, native seed collection, slash pile building, using hand saw to cut back regenerative growth, and re-seeding slash pile burn scars
Help coordinate volunteers’ work at the Peck Garden in Longmont
Scout properties and trails for maintenance needs that could be volunteer work projects
Maintain hand tools and tool storage area
Performs related work as required and other duties as assigned
May be reassigned in emergency situations
