Overview
This is a seasonal, ~3-month position (June 3 – July 29) with a weekly stipend of $750 + room/board.
Trip Leaders are the primary guides for participants in our Rites of Passage Program (A wilderness program for teens) through Shenandoah National Park and surrounding areas of central Virginia. Trip Leaders are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out ROP to help campers adjust and thrive in the outdoor setting, develop new skills, and guide campers in their personal growth and daily outdoor living skills. Each camp session, Trip Leaders guide teens through a 13-day wilderness challenge, including a 4-day backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail.
Qualifications:
• Must be at least 21 years of age or a high school graduate by June 22, 2026
• Must have demonstrated experience in leading outdoor or wilderness adventure trips.
• Must be currently certified or be able to obtain certification in Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder.
• Can interact with all age levels
• Ability to work cooperatively.
• Comfort living and working in a wilderness environment.
• Previous experience in a similar setting is a plus.
