The Staff and Operations Manager is a mature, personable leader of the Outdoor Odysseys staff, available for a minimum of 2 consecutive summer seasons, May-September, with part-time work available throughout the year. Under general guidance of the Outdoor Odysseys (‘OO’) Owner/Operator, the primary focuses of the Staff and Operations Manager are to:
-manage a staff of 10-15 sea kayaking guides, including providing all Human Resources functions;
-oversee the operations and logistics for all sea kayaking trips; and
-lead project management efforts.

A degree or equivalent education/experience in business management.
Demonstrated experience mentoring a staff of 10+.
3+ years experience providing customer service for a small business.

Required Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive Applications, online reservation systems, blogs, and listserv applications.
Exposure to marketing and search engine optimization.
Strong experience managing multiple social media accounts.
Excellent written and oral communication abilities with the ability to convey a positive and professional image in person, on the telephone and in correspondence.
Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Skills:

Available to work May - September, 2 year minimum. Available from 8am - 5pm, 5 days a week, with some flexibility.
2+ years of experience in managing, leading, mentoring, and retaining a team of 5 or more in a small to medium scale business.
