General Job Description:
The Nature Connection eliminates the barriers to getting outside by providing fun, active, and educational outdoor experiences for youth and families in our community.
The Summer Teen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Nature Connection’s teen “Pathways Program”, which gives over 40 local youth opportunities to build skills and experience in the outdoor industry. Job entails direct supervision of our teen staff and other youth participants in the field while working with Nature Connection Leadership on implementation of summer youth and community programs.
Responsibilities:
Daily supervision of summer teen staff including camp counselors, Wilder Bunch trail crew members, Bike Technicians, water sports instructor, social media interns and more.
Manage the collection of summer staff feedback and surveys focused on career development
Transport gear (often by trailer) to support different camp or community eventsCollect and review all summer staff timesheets and submit to Program Coordinator
Fill in for camp counselor or other positions where needed
Other duties as assigned
Compensation: $17-$21/hour
Benefits: PERA (retirement) contribution (20% of gross salary.) Outdoor equipment lending for programs and personal use. Outdoor industry pro-deals.
Time: Seasonal position (May-August)
Location: Hotchkiss, Colorado
Qualifications:
Skill Requirements:
Wilderness First Aid or Responder certificate preferred. Training available.
Outdoor enthusiast: Knowledge of and experience with mountain biking, water sports, camping, backpacking, climbing, among other outdoor pursuits
Broad experience in outdoor recreation and environmental education.
Excellent organization, leadership and communication skills (written and oral), interpersonal skills, computer literacy including social media
Possess a valid Driver’s License, and willing
